Guided by the planet Mars, Rei is the second senshi to appear after Sailor Moon. She goes to T*A Private School for girls where she is treated like a queen. She is short tempered and has an attitude, and is usually seen fighting with Usagi. She lives and works at her grandfather's temple Hikawa Jinja, where she learns the ways of the temple. She has two pet crows, Deimos and Phobos (named after the moons of Mars). She is also a good singer and skiier. She used to date Mamoru before she found out he was destined to be with Usagi. She also has sort of a relationship with Yuuichirou, though it doesn't show in the way she treats him, but deep inside, she cares for him.

As Sailor Mars, she uses attacks based on fire, like the Roman God Mars. She also uses an ofuda which paralyzes the monsters. She uses her anger in her attacks, that is why they are very powerful.

Sailor Mars's fuku is a red skirt, a red collar with a white stripe, red choker, a purple bow in the front with a red button and a red bow in the back, and she has a red 5 pointed star earring on each ear. When she becomes Super Sailor Mars, her button becomes a heart, her sleeves have a transparent cap, and the bow on the back becomes longer, there is a star on her choker, and her earring becomes a 6 pointed star. She wears red high heels and gloves reaching her elbows with a red trim. Her tiara has a red jewel in it.

Fire Soul: Sailor Mars creates a fireball in her finger, which is then magnified into a fiery ribbon and projected at the enemy
Rin, Pyou, Tou, Sha, Kai, Jin, Retsu, Sai, Zen. Akuryou Taisan!: Can be used as Rei or Sailor Mars. She throws an ofuda at the enemy, paralyzing them in their tracks

Mars Star Power Make up!: Rei holds up her henshin pen, and chants these words to become Sailor Mars
Fire Soul Bird: Sailor Mars's powered up Fire Soul. The fire takes the form of a fire bird (Phoenix?) and shot at the enemy
Burning Mandala: Symbols surround Sailor Mars previous to the attack, then she fires several rings of fire at the target
